Going green inside the home is easy

The environment is very important to us at LB Medwaste. Going green inside the home can seem overwhelming — not to mention expensive. But if you break things down a little, converting to an environmentally friendly home is actually easy to do, and doesn’t have to be costly. We’ve compiled a list of simple, low-cost ways you can implement to conserve energy, help the environment, and make living that much healthier. And, there’s more to it than simply recycling.

Living Room

  • Buy timers for your lights
  • Get indoor plants to clean the air
  • Invest in quality light-blocking drapes
  • Unplug electronics when not in use

  • Use the air dry setting on your dishwasher
  • Buy stainless steel pots rather than non stick
  • Use a toaster oven for small meals
  • Clean dishwasher filter and refrigerator coils regularly

  • Repaint with VOC-free paint
  • Switch to chlorine-free products
  • Repurpose glass jars as containers for storage
  • Do full loads of clothes, and use cold water rather than warm

  • Use a rake instead of a blower
  • Plant an herb garden
  • Create a homemade compost bin
  • Use foam packing peanuts in potted plants to help drainage
